It is known that the majority of family owned businesses are likely to face internal challenges, with the key issue being the potential for destructive family conflicts. As a member of a family owned business who is or could be dealing with conflict, you are not alone. For generations families have had to deal with conflict and will continue to do so for generations to come. Managing the twin pillars of the family and the business in an optimal and sensitive way can be daunting.

However, many of the root causes of family firm conflicts are predictable and conflict can be mitigated – even avoided if the right approach, communication and the right structures are set out clearly and early. Managing these potential conflicts is key not just to the survival of the business but to the survival of the family itself. Ignoring Conflict will do more harm to a family than facing up to difficult situations – family members need to establish strong and well-structured business relationships that allow both to thrive.

In this webinar we will focus on:

  • Types of family conflict and what emotional and financial damage do conflicts cause in Family Businesses?
  • Examples of underline core issues likely to cause tensions or conflicts
  • How to mitigate and even avoid family business conflicts
  • Strategies to consider if the conflict is unavoidable – how do you protect both the family and the business and navigate this challenge
