Family Business Network Ireland and Arthur Cox will host Hugh Clark, of the famous Clark Shoe family business at a dinner on Thursday 19th September 2019, for a keynote presentation entitled “Lasting Values”.
Clarks design, manufacture and sell over 50 million pairs of shoes every year. The brand is famous and the shoes are worn in over 35 countries around the world. But did you ever wonder about the people behind your T Bar Sandals or Dessert Boots? Did you know that brothers Cyrus and James Clark started out in 1825 making slippers from sheepskin off-cuts? Why is Clarks still a privately owned business? What storms has the family weathered in over 200 years in business? And who were the activists, feminists, historians and humanitarians across the generations?
To answer these questions and many more about the family behind the famous shoes, we are delighted to announce that our keynote address will be delivered by Hugh Clark, a former Family Non-Exec Director of Clarks. Hugh is currently Chair of the Institute for Family Business in Great Britain.
