Family businesses are found throughout every town in Ireland and operate across all industries. This Report quantifies the economic contribution these firms make to the Irish economy by presenting the most up-to-date data available on the sector. Furthermore, we tell the stories of successful Irish family-owned firms, ranging in size from micro-businesses to large firms employing in excess of 4500 people worldwide. Finally, a range of policy measures are presented that, if implemented, will help family businesses to increase employment and contribute for generations to come. Other firms may come and go; if treated fairly, family firms are here for good.
