“Today’s measures are a welcome further step; businesses and employees will appreciate clarity on what they can continue to do and financial support for what they can’t.”
24 March 2020 – The Family Business Network Ireland has this afternoon welcomed the Government’s newest series of measures to combat COVID-19 and to safeguard the Irish economy.
Speaking after today’s announcement, John McGrane, Executive Director, Family Business Network Ireland, said:
“Family businesses throughout Ireland employ nearly 800,000 people who all play their part in preventing the spread of COVID-19. We accept that physical proximity and contacts in workplaces will need to be minimised so we will appreciate clarity on what businesses and their employees can continue to do and what financial support they can get for what they won’t be allowed to do.”
In light of the UK’s designation of certain businesses as non-essential, McGrane said “we will work with government as this develops because businesses would obviously rather plan now than be told too late.”
